Global Graphics Software provides technology and solutions to the print and pre-press industry from the low end SOHO and corporate printing markets through to the high end digital and graphic arts markets. Success here demands a reputation for robust, extensible and high-performance software.
Harlequin and Jaws are Global Graphics Software's leading technology families, providing interpretation and rendering of page description languages such as the PostScript language, PCL, XPS and PDF and delivering output to a multitude of industry and proprietary file formats and printing devices. Available on many industry standard platforms, our technology is made available in toolkit form for developers to extend or integrate into their own projects.
Additionally, Global Graphics also works with its customers to develop, port and integrate its embedded solutions for our customers' platforms and printing systems. The projects involve porting of the above technology onto embedded platform operating systems such as VxWorks, interfacing to hardware and software subsystems on the target platform, and developing extensions and interfaces to the software to meet functional and performance requirements.
We are seeking a dynamic manager who is capable of managing our products aimed at the SOHO and Corporate Print Market while managing embedded softwre projects and providing direction to a small team of embedded software engineers . This position requires some international travelling.
Principal responsibilities
- Working with Sales, Marketing and our customers to further define marketing strategies and requirements for enhancement and changes to the current and new products and solutionsfor the SOHO and Corporate print markets
- Develop long term productsand solutions strategy and road maps
- Liaison with the company’s Technical Services, customer support teams and our customers, for validation of customer requirements, direction and issues
- Ensure projects are delivered to the agreed quality, delivery date and cost targets
- Develop, communicate and maintain project and product related documentation and information
- Provide communication and liaison between cross-functional teams and organizations, third-party suppliers and OEM integration management
- Involvement with writing requirements documents and product specifications
- Providing focus and direction to the embedded software team in line with agreed technology and product development strategies
- Involvement in technical reviews and problem solving activities
Essential skills and experience
- A degree in computer science or equivalent
- Extensive Knowledge and experience of the SOHO and Corporate Printing market (Ink Jet and Laser) and the key players within that market.
- Knowledge and experience of C/C++ development for embedded environments
- Embedded systems design and development knowledge, including knowledge and exposure to use of Hardware Assist and RTOSs' (e.g. VxWorks)
- Extensive experience in managing software teams and projects within embedded environments
- Strong communication and presentation skills
Desirable skills
- Knowledge and understanding of printing systems and Raster Image Processing
- Knowledge and experience of a PDL (e.g. the PostScript language, XPS, PDF)and so on.
- An understanding of printing technologies, including areas such as laser printers, screening, color management, fonts and so on.
