Hamburg (Germany), 15 April 2016: URW++, the Hamburg-based developer and designer of digital typefaces and a Global Graphics company, has announced today that its Latin fonts will be sold in Japan from Good Farm Planning’s popular font download site “Font Factory” (http://www.fontfactory.jp/) widely used by graphic designers and creative agencies.

Font Factory was launched in 2010, handles thirty different font vendors’ fonts and has had in excess of 20,000 downloads. Customers are able to select the font that best meets their needs from a vast font lineup.

URW++is a world-class digital foundry with over 40 years’ experience and was acquired by Global Graphics in September 2015. URW++ invented their IKARUS system for font design and production in 1978 and today it is still used by all major type foundries in Japan. In addition to URW++’s standard library of high-quality Latin fonts, URW++ continuously releases new, fresh and contemporary type designs created in their Hamburg studio.

Yusuke Seo, a director of Good Farm Planning said “GFP has been mainly selling Japanese fonts initially. We have been planning to expand Latin font lineup to accommodate various requests from design agencies. URW++ is a notable worldwide brand name and has many outstanding fonts that will allow GFP will be able to satisfy vast customer needs."

Takao Nakayama, a director of Good Farm Planning said “I am very pleased that we will be selling URW++ fonts from our Font Factory download site because the URW++ collection consists of vast selection of high-quality font collections such as Daimler’s corporate fonts known as Corporate ASE. Under this agreement, GFP can enrich its Latin font lineups and can provide many choices from a vast new collection to GFP users. Looking ahead I would like to focus on promotion so that users understand the usefulness of fonts in their design work and so as to announce existence of superior fonts."

Yoshiyuki Hagiwara, the director of Global Graphics KK in Tokyo said ”I am very pleased that GFP ended up selling URW++ fonts from what is one of the highest performing font download sites Font Factory. We will make our best efforts to promote the URW++ brand name as well as Global Graphics so as to improve popularity in Japan. We will also focus on promoting URW++’s “Global Fonts” to device manufacturers who develop printer, mobile, and other IoT (Internet of Things) devices for the rapidly developing Asian market.”

URW++ sells not only Latin fonts but also Global Fonts. All Global Fonts contain approximately 35.000 to 65,000 glyphs including complete CJK ( Chinese, Japanese, Korean)glyph set. About URW++++
URW++++, being the inventor of digital outline fonts and a pioneer in font technology, has developed and licensed its IKARUS software for more than 30 years for and to Asian customers, enhancing the system step by step to meet the requirements of non-Latin font design and digitization, above all Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Kanji and Hangul. We have learned quite a lot about these scripts and also produced our own range of CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) fonts together with our Asian cooperation and Joint Venture partners.
