Harlequin® PLUS Host Renderer SDK

Cross-platform
Global Graphics has a long history of providing cross-platform technology and in the Harlequin PLUS Host Renderer SDK cross-platform support is provided through an OS abstraction framework, allowing deployment in host-based solutions on a wide variety of operating systems.

Time to market
The Harlequin PLUS Host Renderer SDK will assist you to deliver your project on time and on budget. Custom integration services are available through Global Graphics’ Technical Services (+TS) team.

Performance
Global Graphics’ technology is renowned for its high performance and reliability. The Harlequin PLUS Host Renderer SDK is built on mature technology: it uses a new iteration of the RIP kernel found at the heart of the Harlequin RIP, with significant expansion and optimization. The Harlequin PLUS Host Renderer SDK provides the tools that allow a printer manufacturer or software vendor to engineer competitive differentiation into their solution and achieve superior performance, quality and PDL fidelity.

Customization
There are extensive facilities within the SDK for the OEM to add their own IP at all stages of the rasterization process and make the RIP operation as customized or as complex as their needs dictate.

PrintTicket handling
The Harlequin PLUS Host Renderer SDK includes a PrintTicket device interface for interpreting XPS PrintTicket instructions and configuring the RIP and external print subsystems accordingly using a powerful internal core scripting language. This mechanism not only allows for the handling of non-device centric PrintTicket keys (such as PageResolution, PageMediaSize, PageOrientation and the like) but provides a flexible mechanism for OEM partners to honour PrintTicket handling capabilities by adding their own custom print ticket keys and configuring the RIP accordingly.

PDL expertise!
Acknowledged experts in developing technology for the interpretation, rendering and conversion of Page Description Languages, our track record is extensive: native interpretation of PostScript® since 1988, PDF since 1993, and now XPS. Global Graphics has been providing consultancy and proof of concept development services to Microsoft on XPS since 2003 and is the company that developed the print reference implementation RIP available on the Microsoft web site.

Other printer driver requirements
The Harlequin PLUS Host Renderer SDK addresses complete rendering of XPS within the context of an XPSDrv printer driver. Other Global Graphics’ technologies are available to convert to Page Description Languages that are widely used for transmission to controllers embedded within printing devices and for scalable consumption designed to reduce the cost of embedded controllers handling XPS natively.
