Job Definition Format (JDF)

Harlequin RIP - JDF Certified by PIA/GATF

Global Graphics' technologies facilitate the exchange of information within and between workflow components using open standards such as the Job Definition Format (JDF), specified by CIP4 (International Cooperation for the Integration of Processes in Pre-press, Press and Post-press).

The Harlequin RIP Genesis Release (v.7.1) was the first product to be officially JDF certified by CIP4 following testing by the Printing Industries of America Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, against the Layout Creator to Imposition ICS and Base ICS.

Below you will find a number of on-line resources. They define what JDF is, the benefits of implementation, the ROI for small pre-press sites, and describe the compatibility and interoperability of the Harlequin RIP with JDF solutions from other vendors, notably the print industry's popular imposition design programs and production management tools.

The Job Definition Format allows software systems and equipment from different vendors to communicate using a common language.
Information on how to implement JDF is in short supply. Written especially for print service providers, download our step-by-step guide on how to benefit from introducing JDF into your operation.
The return-on-investment of implementing JDF in a small print site as a proportion of fixed and variable costs can be just as great as in a large company.
