What is JDF?
The Job Definition Format is an industry standard specified by the CIP4 organization of which Global Graphics is a founding member. The JDF format is designed to help automate print workflows through the provision of an open communication standard.
Think of JDF as a replacement for the traditional paper job bag. It provides a mechanism to carry structured collections of data and instructions and can include a whole spectrum of information.

The JDF Enabler for the Harlequin PLUS Server RIP (v8.0) supports JDF 1.1a, 1.2 and 1.3 specification files. The Harlequin RIP Genesis Release (v.7.1) was the first product to be officially JDF certified by CIP4 following testing by the Printing Industries of America Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, against the Layout Creator to Imposition ICS and Base ICS.
