Global Graphics' next generation eDocument Library provides software developers with Page Description Language (PDL) conversion, optimization and manipulation functionality. Multiple PDL formats are supported, including XPS, PDF, PostScript® and PCL, and its extensible architecture also enables support for proprietary PDL formats. The technology can be used to create or be integrated with software applications, document management systems and print workflow solutions.

Document management

eDocument Library offers document management solution providers key capabilities including interoperability between PDLs; comprehensive access to object level information to repurpose into reports from a variety of stored file formats, including PDF/A; and the ability to embrace XPS as this new format becomes more ubiquitous.

Software application developers

Integrated support for extensive XPS, PDF and other PDL file formats as well as file format import, export and output capabilities can be achieved using eDocument Library. A low level API to the document object model also enables close integration with the host application object model. Vendors can use this low level API to provide an extensible and tailored toolset in their applications.

Document printing and workflow

eDocument Library offers key capabilities including PDL conversion which provides seamless interoperability between PDL formats; comprehensive low level access to both page and object level information, providing the ability to add, modify or delete document and object elements; support for PDL standards including PDF/X and powerful preflighting capabilities.

Legacy Print Devices

Use eDocument Library to enable legacy print devices to support new, emerging PDL formats and print subsystems such as XPS. eDocument Library provides fast, high-performance conversion from XPS to device-supported formats such as PostScript® and PCL.

Transactional processing

Transactional workflows, such as the printing of utility bills or bank statements can become XPS-enabled by utilizing eDocument Library to convert XPS files to PDF or PostScript. eDocument Library also offers ease of integration and extensibility to enable customized access to large multi-page documents from a variety of sources.
