Harlequin Enhanced Gamut Plugin for Canon printers
Harlequin Enhanced Gamut Plugin for Canon printers provides Harlequin RIP users with:
- Direct support for Canon’s latest line of printers for the proofing market
- CMYK and RGB inks to produce a higher color gamut
- Improved spot color simulations on proofs
- ICC profiles for Canon proofing medias
- Full-bleed output
The Canon 12 color printer plug-in was designed to support the Canon imagePROGRAF 5100, 6100, 8100 and 9100 graphic arts printers. The printer's ink set is comprised of 12 colors: four process colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) with Photo Cyan and Photo Magenta; plus Red, Green, and Blue; Matte Black, Gray, and Photo Gray. This unique combination creates a broad color palletand delivers exceptional print results. The combination of CMYK inks along with RGB inks should extend the ability of the plotter to accurately reproduce many Pantone® colors that fall outside the conventional CMYK gamut.

Extended Gamut
The 12-color capabilities of the Canon imagePROGRAF printers extends the color gamut allowing for much better matching of Pantone colors that have been somewhat difficult to reproduce by other proofing methods. Many other printers have utilized only 8 colors of ink in their efforts to reproduce a large color gamut. Although eight colors provide outstanding reproduction of CMYK, it was somewhat lacking when it came to Pantone colors.
Implementation Requirements

Operating System Requirements & Supported RIPs
The Canon 12-color printer plug-in works on any Windows based Harlequin Genesis RIP v7.x or Harlequin Server PLUS RIP v8.x. The Canon plug-in is not offered for use with any Macintosh based Harlequin RIP.
