Electronic document solutionsGlobal Graphics' highly configurable and extensible eDocument Library provides powerful file format conversion, including PDF to XPS and XPS to PDF, as well as extensive document manipulation capabilities for application developers both in the print and corporate markets. The power of the eDocument Library is such that any number of Page Description Languages (PDLs) can be added to an application via the eDocument Library’s extensible architecture, providing interoperability between international standards, such as PDF and PDF/A, new PDLs such as XPS, and proprietary document formats. Developers working with eDocument Library will be secure in the knowledge that their solutions will be ‘future proof’ because document formats that are yet to emerge can be added as they become more prevalent. Also within one architecture the eDocument Library meets market demands for smarter applications that can not only smoothly handle the conversion of one document format to another, but allow every aspect of document content to be accessed and/or modified. Multiple PDL formats are supported including XPS, PDF, PostScript® and PCL. An extensible architecture means that OEMs can add their own input or export filters, enabling support for proprietary PDL formats. You gain ease of integration by using just one solution for all required PDL formats giving you maximum flexibility.
A wide range of applications are possible and may include: Document management solution providers: import documents in a wide variety of PDLs, including accessing and amending metadata such as rights management information; creation of thumbnails and previews; extraction of data for text indexing; merging pages from multiple documents; and exporting to other formats, with or without watermarks. Document printing and workflow applications: seamless interoperability between PDL formats; high-performance conversion from XPS to device-supported formats such as PostScript and PCL for legacy print devices; and allows printer vendors to use the Vista Premium logo on current printer models. Where in-device resources are restricted a Scalable Consumption solution can be used to optimise the flow of data to the device. Transactional processing: programmatic creation of documents in a variety of PDLs, allowing dynamic page creation, twinned with efficient re-use of resources such as fonts, images and other graphics, and merging with selected pre-generated Software application developers: integrated support for extensive XPS, PDF and other PDL file formats; file format import, export and output capabilities; and generation of thumbnails and high resolution images for previewing allow vendors to provide an extensible and tailored toolset in their applications. Developers of graphic arts applications: PDL conversion providing seamless interoperability between PDL formats; support for PDL standards including PDF/X; comprehensive low level access to both page and object level information; generation of thumbnails and high resolution images for previewing; and powerful pre-flighting capabilities. |
